Recruiters

What I look for, what I skip, and how to reach me.

I’m drawn to mature, transparent organizations that prioritize work-life balance and mental well-being. Please connect me directly with hiring managers when you can; office perks don’t sway me.

Red flags include timesheet-driven cultures and affiliations with military, tobacco, fossil fuels, or government intelligence; my moral compass points me elsewhere. If your culture is toxic, let’s save each other the time and heartache.

Companies I might be interested in

  • Space

e.g. NASA, SETI, METI, CERN, NSF, Fermilab, and similar research orgs.

  • Internet infrastructure

e.g. CDNs, GitHub, Cloudflare, and peers in the reliability / platform space.

  • Education

e.g. Wikimedia, museums, public libraries, ed-tech with a clear social cause.

Red flags

  • Competitive programming questions. You’re hiring for building, maintaining, and securing infrastructure, not coding acrobatics.

  • Unprepared interviewers rehashing easily Googled queries, or processes longer than about 2.5 weeks. That’s a hard pass.

Compensation

I’m well-versed in SRE / DevOps market standards. Stock and bonuses are fine, but not as cover for a below-market base (under $240k in NYC metro terms). Put salary ranges in the job post up front, and don’t lowball after interviews; respect goes both ways.
